Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges and Universities, and Minority Serving Institutions

The Office of Health Equity assists Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) with information on HRSA programs and funding opportunities, and inform them of our efforts to promote health equity.

Our work with HBCUs, TCUs, and MSIs includes:

  • Enhancing communication about HRSA opportunities,
  • Increasing faculty, administrator, and/or staff representation on HRSA review panels, and
  • Building an effective relationship to ensure they know about our commitment to assisting with their needs.

Our existing relationships across HRSA bureau and office programs help them meet their needs. We also develop specialized technical assistance for eligible HBCUs, TCUs, and MSIs to increase knowledge about the application process and available funding opportunities.

In addition, we encourage diverse representation on our grant review panels. HBCUs, TCUs, and MSIs are uniquely positioned to provide this diversity as well as subject matter expertise.

Through participation in the review process, HBCUs, TCUs, and MSIs can gain a better understanding of how we evaluate grant applications.
