Maren McBride is the Director of the Office of Legislation. In this role, Ms. McBride and her team are responsible for all aspects of HRSA’s legislative work. Ms. McBride and her team manage HRSA’s relationships with the members of Congress and work with the administrator and HRSA leadership to ensure HRSA’s policy priorities are communicated to Congress, as well as HHS, and OMB.

Prior to joining HRSA, she worked for nearly six years as the Director of the Office of Congressional Appropriations at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Ms. McBride was responsible for all aspects of FDA’s appropriations work, including working with Congress to secure FDA’s $6 billion annual budget. Ms. McBride and her team also managed FDA’s relationships with the members of Congress who served on the U.S. Senate and House Appropriations Committees. She also served as a legislative director and senior legislative liaison for more than six years at HHS, developing a solid understanding of the entire department, its budget, and its breadth of policy issues. She also spent time on Capitol Hill, serving as counsel to a former U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee chairman and as associate director and policy advocate at a legal trade association.
