CDC/HRSA Advisory Committee on HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STD Prevention and Treatment

The CDC/HRSA Advisory Committee on HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STD Prevention and Treatment (CHAC) advises the:

  • Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
  • Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)

CHAC advises HHS, CDC, and HRSA on activities related to the prevention and control of HIV, viral hepatitis, and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and infections. CHAC makes recommendations on the future directions of HHS, CDC, and HRSA’s programs to prevent, control, and treat these diseases and infections. CHAC also aims to reduce disparities that lead to certain individuals or communities experiencing higher risk for these conditions and worse health outcomes.

CHAC supports the HHS process for:

  • Delivering health services to affected communities
  • Meeting the needs of people who have risk factors for HIV, viral hepatitis, and other STDs
