We fund this program to help health care organizations plan and identify rural health issues in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. These are the areas the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) serves.

The NBRC is a federal-state partnership for economic and community development.
What do our grantees do?
Grantees focus on health care development activities within the four-state NBRC region. They conduct community needs assessments. They build relationships with stakeholders and community members.

Who could apply?
Applicants who were eligible for the FY 2021 awards:
- Domestic public or private, non-profit, or for-profit entities. They must have experience serving, or the capacity to serve, rural underserved populations.
- Located in a rural or urban area within the identified counties and states of the NBRC service area.
- Represented a group of participants that included at least three or more health care provider organizations.
- Not previously awarded under this subsection for the same or similar project. Previously awarded entities may apply to expand the scope of the project or the area that will be served through the project.
