Dr. Ann Sheehy serves as Chief Medical Officer and Director, Office of Planning, Analysis and Evaluation (OPAE) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). In these roles, Dr. Sheehy works to advance HRSA’s mission to support equitable health care for the nation’s highest-need communities

Prior to joining HRSA as Chief Medical Officer and OPAE Director, Dr. Sheehy worked in a variety of clinical, research and administrative roles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW), including Division Chief of Hospital Medicine, UW Health ACO President, UW Health Senior Medical Director of Population Health, and Deputy Director of Health Policy Research at the UW Center for Health Disparities Research (CHDR). Dr. Sheehy has previously provided Congressional testimony regarding the Medicare program and has served as Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow in the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives. 

Dr. Sheehy graduated with a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University and earned her M.D. and M.S. in Clinical Research from Mayo Medical School and Mayo Graduate School, respectively. She completed an internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She is board-certified in internal medicine and continues her clinical practice in the hospital setting.
