You or the person you nominate must be:

  • A member or member-elect of a migrant health center’s governing board
  • Familiar with delivering primary health care to migrant and seasonal agriculture workers

Mary Jo Dudley is the Director of the Cornell Farmworker Program, Cornell University, and a governing board member at Finger Lakes Community Health (FLCH), a HRSA grantee serving MSAWs in 42 counties across the Finger Lakes region in New York. She has led the Farmworker Health Committee at Finger Lakes Community Health since 2014. Her knowledge and expertise on MSAW living and working conditions has enabled FLCH to develop culturally appropriate, quality, affordable health care for MSAWs in their service area. Mary Jo’s research with farmworkers guides the development of educational materials and on-farm trainings to address MSAW concerns including health, safety, work, and community life.

She also designs and conducts workshops to improve workplace communications between farmworkers and their employers. Her accomplishments earned her numerous awards, including the White House Champion of Change Cesar Chavez Legacy Award in 2012, and the C. Peter Magrath Community Engagement Scholarship Award in 2019. Dudley has been instrumental in increasing awareness and education on challenges faced by farmworkers in the state and region.
