Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry (ACTPCMD) membership positions have been filled. Please reach out to us in March 2026 when we will request nominations for people to represent the fields of family medicine, preventive medicine, pediatric medicine, physician assistants, and general dentistry.
Nominations for membership
The ACTPCMD gives advice and recommendations to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We review primary care medicine and dentistry activities under section 747 of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act, as it existed when section 749 of the PHS Act was enacted in 1998.
We submit an annual report on our activities to:
- The HHS Secretary
- The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions
- The House Committee on Energy and Commerce
For programs under Part C of Title VII of the PHS Act, we also:
- Create performance measures
- Issue guidelines for long-term program evaluation, as described in section 761(d)(2) (42 U.S.C. § 294n(d)(2)
- Recommend funding levels
We have up to 14 members, who are chosen by the HHS Secretary. Our members are health professionals who represent:
- Family medicine
- General internal medicine
- General pediatrics
- Preventive medicine
- Physician assistants
- General dentistry
- Pediatric dentistry
- Public health dentistry
- Dental hygiene
