Healthy Grants Workshops

In this session, we provide information to help you administer your HRSA award. Topics include:

• Reviewing your Notice of Award (NoA)
• Highlighting HRSA efforts to improve equity in grants
• Identifying your organization's key roles and responsibilities
• Identifying HRSA staff who can assist you

We also discuss reporting requirements, financial management, and how to use the systems required to manage your HRSA award.

In this session, we:

• Dive deeper into specific requirements
• Highlight critical information in the NoA
• Dive into several NoAs to demonstrate specific requirements, including any restrictions or special conditions
• Provide specific programmatic examples

In this session, OFAM's Division of Grants Policy and Planning summarizes grants policy updates, legislative mandates, and topics that impact HRSA award recipients.

This session provides information on how to track federal grant funds, document expenditures, and provide adequate supporting documentation. We present on time and effort reporting, including acceptable forms of documentation. We also discuss allowability of costs and share resources and best practices for effectively managing your grants.

In this session, we highlight the many factors to consider when developing and managing a grant budget. We explore cost principles, Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) requirements, allowable and unallowable costs, limitations, and the importance of budget justifications. We use examples to illustrate common budgeting mishaps and resulting consequences.

In this session, we share what you need to know once you receive the Notice of Award (NoA). We also review common post-award actions involved in the day-to-day administration of a HRSA award. Topics include:

• Understanding the terms and conditions and reporting requirements
• The importance of accurate and timely submissions
• Common types of prior approval requests and when they are required
• Roles and responsibilities of the HRSA grants management specialist and Project Officer

In this session, we discuss the Department's initiatives that led to the changes in financial reporting and the goals and benefits of the changes. Additionally, we cover the new features of the APEX reports that are available in the Payment Management System (PMS), which will assist you in reconciling your federal awards.

In this presentation, we provide an overview and early successes of HRSA's Health and Public Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program (HPSWRTP) awards. The program aims to reduce and address burnout, suicide, mental health conditions and substance use disorders and promote resiliency among the health workforce.

The Electronics Handbooks (EHB) is an important tool for managing and tracking your HRSA grant. In this session, you'll learn about the latest EHB developments and to get answers to common EHB questions.

We provide an overview of HRSA's Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (formerly the Office of Regional Operations), including the Office's new functions and role within HRSA, and get an opportunity to engage with HRSA IEA Regional Administrators.

We provide an overview of what you need to ensure a healthy single audit including auditor opinions. We also present information regarding HRSA's audit resolution process, common audit findings and adequate correction actions to address the findings along with a few case studies.

Our Grants Management Quality Service Management Office, or QSMO, provides an overview of the Grants QSMO, current initiatives, path ahead, and we gather insights from the audience on how the Grants QSMO can best improve federal grants management for applicants and recipients.

In this session, we summarize relevant legal obligations related to language access and disability access and cover specific topics such as physical access, medical access, and promoting health equity for underserved patients.

During this session, we provide strategies that your organization can implement to promote effective communication. We cover specific topics such as: Situations when it's appropriate to use an in-person sign language interpreter versus video remote interpreting; and example accommodations to support patients with certain types of communication disabilities.
